Compatibility

Choosing the right mattress size is essential for sleeping well and getting the most out of your bed base, especially if it's motorized or if you're sleeping in a couple.

Standard mattress sizes

  • Single:80×190 / 80×200 cm
  • Queen size:120×190 / 120×200 cm
  • Standard double:160×190 / 160×200 cm
  • King Size:180×200 cm

If you have a bed base with a different size (e.g. 85×195 or 170×200), it is possible to make the mattress to measure.

The mattress and bed base must be the same size

The mattress must be exactly the same size as the bed base.

  • A smaller mattress moves and creates gaps at the sides
  • A larger mattress sags and loses support

Even a few centimeters of difference can reduce comfort and reduce the lifespan of the mattress.

Compatibility with motorized networks

Not all mattresses are suitable for articulated electric bases.

For motorized nets the following are ideal:

  • memory foam
  • Natural latex
  • Water Foams

These materials are flexible and follow the movement of the net without bending or damaging.

Traditional spring mattresses or mattresses with excessively rigid structures are not recommended for motorized bed bases.

Couples: is a single double bed or two singles better?

If you have very different needs (weight, stiffness, posture), the best solution is:

2 single mattresses on a split double bed base

  • everyone chooses their own rigidity
  • less destructive than the partner's movements
  • possibility of using independent motorized networks

Aesthetically, it will still look like a single double bed, especially with a double mattress topper.

Hotels and accommodation facilities

The following configuration is widely used in hotels:

2 mattresses 80×200 on a 160×200 base

In this way you can offer:

  • double bed for couples
  • two single beds that can be separated if necessary

It is the most versatile and practical solution also for B&Bs and holiday homes.

When to choose a custom mattress

  • Non-standard nets (e.g. 195 cm long)
  • Handcrafted or vintage beds
  • Special space requirements

A custom-made mattress avoids forced adjustments and guarantees the same comfort as standard models.

Mattress height and bed base type

On classic slatted bases you can use any height.

On motorized nets it is preferable to stay between 22 and 28 cmto ensure maximum flexibility.
